Logwood Winter Activities Guide

We have compiled this list of outfitters and activities that we believe to be the best in this area. We would be happy to make your reservations for any activity. Several of the listed activities have direct links to their web pages just click for complete information and current pricing.

Durango Mountain Resort  A great mountain for the entire family with beginner, intermediate, or black runs for the entire family.

 
TRIMBLE HOT SPRINGS Just 3 miles south of Logwood on highway 550. A great place to soak and relax after a great day in the Durango area. Trimble offers a full day spa menu of services to satisfy your needs. If you are looking to get some exercise, you can do laps in their Olympic size pool, or sign up for a water aerobics class. Just bring your suits, since they have towels and robes for your comfort.

 CROSS COUNTRY SKIING: THE NORDIC CENTER: 16 KM of groomed trails. Trail fee:  $8 per day, Seniors and Kids $4 per day. Rentals: Adult $10 per day Seniors and Kids: $6  For information: Call 970-247-9000 ext. 114 or 970-385-2114 Many other free access areas of cross country skiing are available also. Ski equipment can be rented at the Nordic center for these areas. Information at Logwood.

DOG SLEDDING Drive your own sled or ride along.  See the mountains as very few have ever seen them on picturesque mountain trails.  Warmth and safety are of up most importance.  Hot drinks, fresh snacks and a camaraderie between human and canine are just some of the highlights. SLEIGH RIDES This is a blast! Don't forget your camera!  Rapp Corral: The best Sleigh ride in the area.  A  45 minute ride in the beautiful San Juan National Forest at Haviland Lake just 10 min. from Logwood.  Call:   970-247-8454 for reservations.

Bucks Livery Views of Needles Mountains in San Juan Forest. Caters to many of the families at Purgatory village. Bucks has Sleigh ride that offers you a full Dinner and Sleigh ride for your group. It is wonderful! Dress Warmly with Ski attire (bibs, coat, gloves, hat, etc.).... It is worth it! So romantic on full moon nights.

SNOW SHOEING: If you have never experienced shoeing before and you love to hike, this venture could be for you. Enjoy breathtaking views of snow covered mountains against blue sunny sky as you hike along trails that go on forever....Not counting all those calories you will burn up after one of Logwood's delicious full breakfasts! SNOWMOBILING ICE PIRATES:
Come Ride where the locals ride!  Located on Molas Pass, 16 miles north of Durango Mountain Resort ski area. There are many miles of groomed trails and powder fields. Views of mountain ranges in all directions. 

DURANGO & SILVERTON NARROW GAUGE  This ride goes half way to Silverton and stops for an hour just above Rockwood at Cascade Canyon and then returns to Durango. Logwood suggestion: Carry your lunch with you, and enjoy a Winter picnic during the train stop at Cascade or have a snowball fight! We can book this for you. Plan prior to arrival for best seats. 

Mesa Verde National Park: A small portion of the Park is open during the Winter season. The Museum is open most days too. Take advantage of its history and beauty this time of year. Christmas is especially beautiful.

SKY UTE CASINO: The sky is the limit! Slots, Blackjack, Poker, Bingo. Just 20 minutes from Durango in Ignacio, Co.

LOGWOOD Bed and Breakfast is the closest Bed and Breakfast to the Ski Slopes of Durango Mountain Resort!!! We are the only Red Cedar  LOG Bed and Breakfast in  Durango sitting on the banks of the Animas River.  It is secluded but yet convenient to the city of Durango, Durango Mountain Resort, Tamarron Golf Course and Trimble Hot Springs.   It is a great location to base out of for several days while you enjoy the beauty and attractions of the surrounding area.
